Types of dentures we offer

At Bridgewater Dental Center, Dr. Sang Kim works with each patient to find the denture solution that best fits their mouth, lifestyle, and goals. Whether you're missing all of your teeth or just a few, there is an option designed for you.

  • Full dentures— A complete set of upper or lower teeth for patients who have lost all their natural teeth in an arch. Today's full dentures are crafted from high-quality acrylic and porcelain that closely mimic the appearance of natural teeth and gums. They restore your ability to chew, speak clearly, and smile with confidence.
  • Partial dentures — Designed for patients who still have some healthy natural teeth. A partial fills the gaps with replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored base, often secured with small clasps that fit around your existing teeth. Partials prevent remaining teeth from shifting and distribute chewing forces more evenly.
  • Implant-supported dentures — For patients who want maximum stability, especially with lower dentures that tend to shift. Two to four dental implants are placed in the jawbone, and the denture snaps securely onto them. This eliminates the need for adhesives and dramatically improves chewing power and comfort.

The fitting process

A great denture starts with precise measurements and impressions. Over the course of several appointments at our Bridgewater office, Dr. Kim takes detailed records of your jaw relationship, selects teeth that match your facial features and desired shade, and has you try in a wax model before the final denture is fabricated. This step-by-step approach ensures the finished product feels secure, looks natural, and functions well from the very first day. Adjustments are normal in the first few weeks as your mouth adapts, and we schedule follow-up visits to fine-tune the fit.

Living well with dentures

Caring for dentures is straightforward. Remove them nightly, brush them with a soft denture brush, and soak them in a cleaning solution to keep them fresh. Continue to brush your gums, tongue, and any remaining natural teeth. Regular checkups with Dr. Kim allow us to monitor your oral health, check the denture fit, and make relining adjustments as your jawbone naturally changes over time. Patients throughout Bridgewater, Harrisonburg, and Rockingham County count on our team for ongoing denture care.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get used to new dentures?+

Most patients adjust within a few weeks. Your mouth needs time to adapt to the new appliance, and some soreness or extra saliva is normal at first. Follow-up visits at our Bridgewater office let Dr. Kim fine-tune the fit as you settle in.

Can I eat normally with dentures?+

Yes, though it takes a little practice. Start with softer foods cut into small pieces and chew on both sides evenly. As you get comfortable, you'll be able to enjoy most of the foods you love again — especially with implant-supported dentures.

What are implant-supported dentures?+

Implant-supported dentures snap onto two to four small implants placed in the jawbone. They eliminate the need for adhesives, stay firmly in place during eating and talking, and are especially helpful for lower dentures that tend to shift.

How do I clean my dentures?+

Remove your dentures each night and brush them with a soft denture brush — not regular toothpaste, which can scratch the surface. Soak them in a denture cleaning solution overnight. Also brush your gums, tongue, and any remaining natural teeth.

How often should dentures be replaced?+

Dentures typically last five to eight years before they need to be replaced. Your jawbone changes shape gradually over time, which affects the fit. Dr. Kim can reline your dentures in the meantime to keep them comfortable between replacements.

Do you offer same-day dentures in Bridgewater?+

We offer immediate dentures that are placed on the same day teeth are extracted, so you never have to go without teeth. The fit of immediate dentures is adjusted over the following months as your gums heal and reshape.
